Where Did Chess Originate: What You Should Know About The Game

There are many theories in regards to where did chess originate from. Records show that the game originated from India during the sixth century AD. Just like today, the game involved the use of several pieces that are moved around a checked board. To win a game, you need to have a well thought out strategy. You need to take your time and think through your moves before making them. The main point of the game is usually to capture your opponents pieces and their 'King'.

The game was spread from India to other parts of the world by individuals who moved from one place to another. This mainly involved members of the military and traders. The game was initially spread to Iran and the rest of the middle East before finding it's way to Europe. Even though the name of the game was changed depending on where it was played, it's basic rules remained more or less the same.

Some people played the game for sport while others played it seriously. So seriously was it taken that some landlords had their laborers, who they were playing against, beheaded when the landlord worn a game. The first moves that you make when the game starts plays a big role in determining whether you will win or loose a game.

During the nineteenth century various tournaments were organized and the first world class championship was organized. This led to the written establishment of rules and principles that were used to play the game. The world chess federation was then founded to help popularize and oversee the game.

The game gained professional recognition. Games and events were highlighted in the media, drawing more attention to the game. The game was then adapted to be played on a computer. This made it possible for individuals to play the game with other real players or against the computer. Most professional players can win a game against a computer.

Each players normally has sixteen pieces to move around the board. The pawns represent laborers who can be sacrificed in order to save more valuable pieces. In medieval times, laborers were considered more inferior to landowners and life was hard for them. Most of them died when they were still young.

The queen symbolizes how powerful queens were in the past. This was especially if the queen was favored by the King. The queen could influence any major decision that was made by the king. While some queens worked towards the good of their kings, others plotted against the king.

Being familiar with where did chess originate helps you understand the history of the game. You can play the game with your family or friends. The major advantage of the game is that it can be played almost anywhere as long as you have the time and space.
