Yellowstone Photography Opportunities Are Abundant

Yellowstone photography opportunities are legendary. With so much spectacular scenery and incredibly biodiversity, this crown jewel of the national park system is a popular destination for both amateur and professional photographers. The area is rich in history, culture and natural beauty and boasts of an amazing array of flora and fauna.

One of the iconic images from the park, is that of the Old Faithful geyser which is often photographed. This and other geothermal features make for popular pictures for those interested in science. Mud pots, hot springs and other geothermal phenomena besides the geyser, are also frequently filmed.

The area's many scenic vistas are an artist's dream. From the famous Yellowstone Falls to the picturesque Mount Washburn and the the expansive Lamar Valley, there are so many scenic sites that can be photographed. These beautiful vistas can be filmed during different seasons to show the beauty of the park year round.

The park's wildlife is a major attraction. Predators like Grizzly bears and timber wolves top the list of sought after mammals. Often the roadside pullouts in the Lamar and Hayden Valleys will be populated with photographers filming these exotic species. Other animals that are often photographed include, elk, moose, black bear, and Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep.

Birds like great grey owls, trumpeter swans, bald eagles and white pelicans can also be attractive draws. Colorful harlequin ducks and rare whooping cranes may be found by those who search diligently and are blessed by a little extra luck. With so many avian species, the area is a nice place to snap photos of birds ranging from tiny song birds to large birds of prey.

Yellowstone photography opportunities are virtually unlimited. From incredible scenery to amazing wildlife, the area is an obvious photographer's paradise. Few places inspire as many outstanding nature shoots as this first American national park. The region's beauty and biodiversity is truly special.
