Ideas For Phillip Romero To Boost His Online Presence

By Freda Watts

These days social media is an important tool for getting noticed. It doesn't matter who you are or what your profession is. Say, for instance, your name is Phillip Romero, it is still important to have an online presence in case someone wants to check out you or your service. These days a good many people still have very little idea of how to cultivate a social media presence.

What needs to be taken into consideration is the audience you hope to appeal to and how they can best be served. People like it when someone comes along to solve their problems, not when they come along and post self-serving articles about how great they are. The idea is to come up with the content the audience wishes to read.

One of the best things to do is to adopt a strategy of letting individuals within a company make comments on behalf of the brand rather than having them hide behind the brand. People are more apt to want to chat and hang out with someone that posts as themselves, rather than as the company or brand name.

Having a presence on the internet in the first place is a great start. Try to make each person in the social media marketing department visible, which means giving them their own email and using their name and a photo. Calling them 'admin' or 'webmaster' is too impersonal. Each time they make a comment or post they should be visible and contactable by the wider audience. Be sure to choose the team wisely, an errant tweet can blow a hole in the company's reputation overnight.

Listening is very important in social media as it provides valuable feedback as to who the customers and audience are, what motivates them and why they make the choices they make. By taking a note of their praise and grievances, a pattern emerges of the role that the firm and its services and products, plays in their everyday lives.

One of the most critical things to do is to become the customer's friend. This means not blatantly promoting products or posting articles that look like no more that news releases under the guise of blog posts. That does not mean promotion should not be done on social media networks. It can be done in a subtle way by slipping in a comment that points out how your service might help solve a problem.

Humans should be used in the process of interacting at all times. These days it is far too easy to set up software that can spam links to websites and create bogus conversations. And while the idea of spamming websites might seem cool at the time, it is far more prudent to use humans, as they can cultivate relationships and in the long run that will influence people more.

Whether your name is Phillip Romero, or you are someone looking to boost their presence and standing in social media circles, the best way to get noticed is to help others and be of service. It may seem mundane, yet in the long run those who serve others the most usually find more Twitter and Facebook users follow them.
